Nellore: Epack Prefab, a fast growing pre-engineered building (PEB) solution provider, will set up a greenfield manufacturing unit in Mambattu Industrial Area in Nellore district with an investment of Rs 198 crore.
The firm is expanding its manufacturing footprint to set up a new facility spread over 20 acres. The expansion will cater to the region’s growing demand for such structures. The new unit will add one lakh tonnes per year.
At present, Epack has two manufacturing plants in Rajasthan and Greater Noida, with a total capacity to produce one lakh metric tonnes of prefabricated material annually, which will increase to two lakh tonnes with the third plant. The new facility is projected to employ approximately 1,000 people. The facility will also help meet the export demand as it will be closer to ports. The company exports are primarily focussed on Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and the Middle East.
The company organised the groundbreaking ceremony for the facility on Wednesday. Sullurpeta MLA Kiliveti Sanjeevaiah and Special Chief Secretary, Industries R Karikal Velaven attended the function along with Group Chairman B L Bothra, Directors Sanjay Singhania and Nikhil Bothra.
“With two existing plants located in Ghiloth, Rajasthan and Greater Noida, the company is now looking to capture a greater market share in the South as it has tremendous market potential. Currently, transportation to the southern market involves high transportation costs and impacting the overall building cost,” said Nikhil Bothra.
The role of PEB has widened and is being used in various industries now. The shift from conventional construction to factory-controlled pre-engineered high-quality construction has changed the requirement of engineering, materials, and skills for the construction industry.
